A Self-Defence Awareness Session was organised at Mahatma College of Education, Gandhi
Nagar Campus, Pandikodu, Nileshwaram, Kasaragod, on 23 October 2026, in collaboration with
the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and Better Life Foundation India. The session was
led by Praseetha mam, Senior Civil Police Officer (SCPO), Chittarikkal Police Station.
The programme aimed to create awareness among students about personal safety and the
importance of self-defence. The resource person explained various self-defence techniques and
demonstrated practical methods to protect oneself in challenging situations. Students were also
given opportunities to practise the techniques under her guidance, making the session
interactive and effective. This hands-on experience helped students understand the techniques
better and develop greater confidence in applying them when necessary.
The session also highlighted the importance of alertness, situational awareness, courage, and
presence of mind. Overall, the programme was an informative and valuable learning experience
that equipped students with practical knowledge and essential skills to enhance their confidence
and personal safety.
