Mahatma College of Education was started in the academic year 2008-09 in a rented building near Market road Nileshwar with one hundred students in five subjects.
The Society purchased 5.26 acres of land at Pandikot in Perol Village and constructed a beautiful two storey College building with a carpet area of 30000 square feet . During the times of construction of college building Adv. K Janardhanan, Sri C Muraleedharan and Late M Narayanan respectively were the President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Society. Late P C Thampan was the consultant and supervising engineer
The College was shifted to the newly constructed campus “Gandhi Nagar Campus” during the academic year 2010-11 with adequate facilities for curricular and extra-curricular activities of the students.
Mahatma College of Education is now serving the society as one of the best B Ed colleges under Kannur University.
The NCTE team visited the college campus during 20th and 21st January 2020 and placed it as one of the best B Ed College in the country by evaluating the facilities provided in the campus.

We offer Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Degree in Five Subjects, English, Physical Science, Natural Science, Social Science and Mathematics
B.Ed. Degree’d duration is two years, in four semesters

The admission to merit seats are through the Centralised Admission Procedure of Kannur University. Management seat admission is done in the college in line with the Govt.norms.
Merit based admission: Rs.45000/Year
Management quota seats: Rs.60000/Year
