A community lunch event was successfully organized in coordination with IQAC and the College Union, under the supervision of Ms. Ranjitha, Assistant Professor in General Education. Held during the lunch break in the college hall, the event emphasized the B.Ed students’ learning of key values such as diversity, unity, cooperation, collaboration, and a sharing mentality. Food was selected as an ideal medium to bring these principles to life, fostering closer connections among participants.
The venue hall was thoughtfully arranged with furniture to accommodate all attendees comfortably. Participants contributed rice from their homes, while various curries were pre-assigned to different groups and assembled in the hall beforehand. During the lunch break, all B.Ed students gathered, sat together, and enjoyed the shared feast. Students actively participated with enthusiasm, taking turns to serve the meal and ensuring everyone experienced the diverse flavors from different homes.
The event created a joyful atmosphere, allowing students to taste and appreciate homemade dishes from varied backgrounds, which reinforced lessons on cultural diversity and communal harmony. Participants reported high levels of excitement and satisfaction, highlighting the success of using food as a unifying tool. This initiative not only promoted practical application of educational values but also strengthened peer bonds within the B.Ed cohort.
The community lunch exemplified effective grassroots collaboration in an educational setting.
