An Environment Day programme was organized on 05/06/2026 at A.L.P. School, Palayi, from 10.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. by Mahatma College of Education, Nileshwar, in collaboration with IQAC, Nature Club, and A.L.P. School, Palayi. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating environmental awareness among school students and promoting sustainable practices.
The programme commenced at 10.02 a.m. with a prayer song presented by the students of A.L.P. School, Palayi. This was followed by the welcome address by Mr. Vivek T.V., Co-ordinator of the Nature Club, Mahatma College of Education, who explained the purpose and history of World Environment Day. The function was presided over by Dr. K.K. Shanmughadas, Principal of Mahatma College of Education, who spoke about the importance of nature as the foundation of all living organisms.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Aneesh E., Ward Counsellor (11) and Chairman of the School Development Committee, A.L.P. School, Palayi. In his inaugural address, he emphasized the need to prevent deforestation, reduce plastic waste, and protect the environment for the well-being of future generations.
Felicitations were offered by Mr. Rajeevan K.V., Headmaster of A.L.P. School, Palayi, who conveyed the message that environmental conservation begins with individual actions and reminded the students of Mahatma Gandhi’s words that the Earth provides enough to satisfy everyone’s needs but not everyone’s greed. Greetings were also extended by Mrs. Bindu P., Senior Assistant, A.L.P. School, while Mrs. Bijina M., Mother PTA President, enriched the programme with a meaningful song. Mr. Abhay J. Prakash, Union Chairman of Mahatma College of Education, also addressed the gathering.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Sreena A., Staff Advisor, Mahatma College of Education, expressing gratitude to all the dignitaries, teachers, students, and organizers for their support and participation. The official session concluded at 10.50 a.m., followed by the distribution of sweets.
Following the official session, the students of Mahatma College of Education presented a group song, a role play, and a group dance based on the theme of environmental conservation. These cultural programmes added colour to the celebration and effectively conveyed the message of protecting nature.
Later, a tree planting programme was conducted, symbolizing the collective commitment towards environmental protection and sustainable development.
As part of the Environment Day celebrations, a colouring competition and a quiz competition were conducted for the students to enhance their environmental awareness and creativity. The winners were appreciated, and gifts were distributed to encourage their active participation.
The programme was a great success and effectively conveyed the message of environmental conservation and the importance of nurturing nature for a better future
