GREEN TRAILS: A RAIN WALK THROUGH THE HEART OF PALAYI VILLAGE

As part of World Environment Day celebration and the efforts to promote eco-tourism and experiential learning, the Tourism Club of Mahatma College of Education, Nileshwar organized a unique programme titled “Green Trails”. The programme was conducted at Palayi Village, situated in the Nileshwar Block Panchayat of Kasaragod District. The journey was made even more memorable by the refreshing monsoon rain that accompanied the participants throughout the walk. The rain-soaked pathways, lush greenary, and tranquil village atmosphere offered a delightful experience, allowing participants to connect closely with nature. One of the major attractions of the programme was the visit to the Shutter Cum Bridge, a picturesque landmark surrounded by verdant landscapes. The bridge provided breathtaking views of the village scenery and served as an ideal spot for photography and observation.
The participants also explored a traditional old ancestral home, which reflected the rich cultural heritage and architectural beauty of Kerala. The visit offered valuable insights into the lifestyle, customs, and history of the local community. Palayi Village revealed itself as a truly remarkable green destination, blessed with abundant natural beauty, peaceful surroundings, and a strong connection to its cultural roots. The programme helped participants appreciate the importance of preserving rural heritage and promoting sustainable tourism. “Green Trails” was a highly enriching and enjoyable experience. It strengthened the participants’ awareness of environmental conservation, local culture, and responsible tourism practices. The programme concluded with lasting memories of a superb green village and a renewed appreciation for nature’s beauty.
