The 80th Independence Day of India was celebrated with great joy, pride, and patriotic spirit at
Mahatma College of Education, Nileshwar, in collaboration with IQAC, on 15th August 2026 at
9:00 a.m. The programme commenced with a parade, followed by the flag hoisting ceremony,
during which the national flag was proudly hoisted by the College Principal, Dr. Shanmuga Das
KK. In his Principal’s Address, he highlighted the significance of freedom, national unity,
responsibility, and the role of citizens in building a progressive nation. The Chief Guest, Dr.
Balakrishnan P C, President of Mahatma Educational Society, addressed the gathering and
shared inspiring thoughts on the importance of Independence Day. The celebration was further
enriched by various cultural programmes presented by the students, creating an atmosphere of
patriotism and enthusiasm. Teachers and students participated actively in the programmes,
making the occasion memorable and meaningful. The celebration concluded with the distribution
of payasam among the students and staff, adding a joyful and traditional touch to the celebration
and making the 80th Independence Day a memorable occasion for everyone.
