Report on National Reading Day Celebration
National Reading Day was celebrated at Mahatma College of Education on 19 June 2025 at 12 p.m. in the College Library Hall. The programme was organized in collaboration with the IQAC and the English club as a tribute to P. N. Panicker, the founder of the Library Movement in Kerala.
A book exhibition was arranged in the library to promote reading habits among students. The programme began with a welcome speech by the College Union Chairman, Mr. Nithin M. The Principal of Mahatma College of Education, Dr. Remya V. R., inaugurated the function and highlighted the importance of reading in shaping knowledge and character. The Librarian, Mr. Jayakrishnan V., delivered a brief address emphasizing the value of libraries in academic life. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the College Union Magazine Editor, Ms. Chaithanya K.
The celebration successfully inspired students to cultivate the habit of reading and appreciate the significance of books in personal and academic growth.
