The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) meeting of the college was convened on 17-03-2026 to review the programmes and activities conducted during the academic year 2025–26. The meeting also discussed the challenges faced in implementing various initiatives, and plan activities for the forthcoming academic year.
The meeting commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Suresh Kokkot, IQAC Coordinator. He presented a comprehensive overview of the programmes and activities organized during the academic year and emphasized the need for greater support from all stakeholders, particularly the management, to strengthen infrastructure, ICT facilities, laboratory resources, and library facilities for achieving academic excellence.
Dr. Shanmugha Das, Principal, highlighted the necessity of providing additional facilities for girl students, campus-wide Wi-Fi connectivity, and other essential amenities to enhance the quality of education and student support services.
Sri Sajesh, Municipal Ward Councillor, underscored the importance of transforming the ward into an educational hub and promoting job-oriented courses for higher education students. He assured the institution of his full support in its efforts to emerge as a leading academic centre under the University.
Dr. P. C. Balakrishnan, President of the Mahatma Education Society, outlined the history and development of the college since its establishment in 2008. He described the infrastructural improvements undertaken during the academic year, including campus beautification, enhancement of laboratory and library facilities, and strengthening of IT infrastructure. He reiterated the Society’s vision of developing the institution into a premier teacher education college and contributing to the educational development of the region.
Sri Damodaran, education expert, emphasized the importance of maintaining high standards in teaching and learning and assured the cooperation of the management and staff in promoting professional excellence in teacher education.
Sri Muralidharan, Secretary of the Mahatma Education Society, expressed the management’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving the academic quality of the institution.
Representing the student community, Sri Muhammed Minhaj raised concerns regarding campus facilities, particularly the need for a concrete approach road connecting the main road to the college campus. He pointed out the difficulties experienced by students, especially during the monsoon season.
Dr. Sreena A., Alumni Association Representative, stressed the importance of strengthening the Alumni Association and completing its registration process with the appropriate authorities.
Sri Krishnan Master and Smt. Sharanya B. highlighted the need to establish a student counseling centre in the college to provide academic and personal guidance to students.
Following detailed discussions, the meeting resolved to entrust the Principal and Staff Council with the preparation of the academic calendar and the planning of programmes and activities for the next academic year. It was also decided to complete the documentation of all programmes conducted during the academic year by April 2026. The meeting resolved to strengthen the Alumni Association through increased alumni participation and recognition of their achievements. The Executive Committee of the Alumni Association was authorized to formulate suitable programmes for alumni engagement.
Further decisions included ensuring the effective functioning of laboratories through the procurement of necessary materials, repainting the college building during the vacation period, initiating discussions with the Nileshwaram Municipality regarding the construction of an approach road to the campus, updating the college website for better documentation and information dissemination, and purchasing additional laptops and hard disks to facilitate the documentation of institutional activities.
The meeting concluded with a strong commitment from all stakeholders to work collaboratively towards enhancing the academic quality, infrastructure, and overall development of the institution.
